ACO and AWS collaborate on a new architectural drainage solution for future homes

Today, the Australian baby boomer’s population has tripled over the past 50 years, with those aged 65 and over living longer than ever thanks to higher quality healthcare. Staggeringly, the cost to a home-owner of implementing precautionary liveable housing features is 22 times lower than refitting a home when a need may arise. Its installation helps to prevent trips and falls from inadequately drained water that is the result of door frames that do not drain, or elevated or uneven thresholds. Level thresholds are a dynamic and effective drainage infrastructure that can be installed within the existing drainage framework or piping.
The FlowTHRU product
The FlowTHRU drainage solution is a practical way of removing water runoff from glass doors, which prevents damage to internal flooring structures and surfaces. The FlowTHRU system is unique in that it has been hydraulically tested in different storm category simulations. The flush sill aids an uninterrupted flooring threshold, eliminating a tripping hazard.
Its stainless steel grate was designed to comply with disability access (AS 1428.2) and is also compliant to Australian slip resistance safety standards, AS 4586. FlowTHRU has been tested by wet pendulum, wet barefoot inclining platform and oil and wet inclining platform conditions, so it passes the test for everyday durability in and around swimming pools, balconies, courtyards, decks, walkways and other pedestrian areas.
FlowTHRU is an ACO Heelsafe® Anti-Slip grate, meaning it is designed to prevent small stiletto heels from becoming trapped within the maximum 10mm slot width of the grating, without disrupting pedestrian, wheelchair, bicycle or cane access.
