Private Residence - Studley Park Road Kew, VIC
Kew is a suburb of Melbourne, located approximately 5 km east of the central business district. It falls within the local government area of the City of Boroondara. Historically, Kew was a city in its own right from 1860 until 1994, when it was amalgamated with the cities of Hawthorn and Camberwell to form the current City of Boroondara.
Project Design Brief
Designers aimed to take advantage of the leafy surroundings and proximity to the CBD to create outdoor areas where families can spend extended periods of time when weather permits. The balcony areas of this residential house were a particular focus, designed to support all aspects of outdoor living. Balcony drains were to be of a shallow depth, allowing them to be integrated directly within the topping screed. Grates had to be slip resistant for safe, all-weather use.
