Sandy Bay is a well-established inner-city suburb of Hobart, located immediately south of
the central business district. It borders Battery Point and enjoys an extensive frontage to the
Derwent River. The area is recognised for its prestigious residential properties, as well as
being home to the University of Tasmania’s Hobart campus and several private schools.
Project Design Brief
The design intent was to capitalise on the property’s proximity to the Derwent River and its
convenient location near the CBD. A key focus was on enhancing outdoor living by creating
functional, inviting spaces where families can comfortably spend extended periods outside
during favourable weather. Particular attention was given to the balcony areas, ensuring
they could be used as flexible and safe outdoor living zones throughout the year. Drainage
was therefore essential.
